We're a UK trade business directory that publishes only the top 5 tradespeople per trade, per area — independently researched, regularly reviewed, and earned, not bought. There's one paid exception, and we're upfront about it: a single, clearly-labelled Featured business can appear above each Top 5. The organic Top 5 itself can never be paid for. No pay-to-rank list, no endless scrolling, no cold-calling lead-sellers.
Type "trade directory UK" into Google and you'll find the usual suspects — pay-to-list platforms where the businesses with the biggest advertising budget float to the top, and a "quote request" pings ten traders who then all chase you at once.
We built Top5Trades to fix that. We research the businesses actually trading in each area, weigh up their Google rankings, the volume and quality of their reviews, their accreditations and verifiable local track record — then publish a shortlist of just five. That's the whole list. It can't be bought.
For each trade and area, we identify the firms genuinely operating there — not just whoever buys the most directory ads.

We believe in being upfront about money. Above each Top 5 there's a single Featured placement that a local business can pay for. It's always marked "Featured," there's only ever one per page, and — crucially — it has no influence on the organic Top 5 beneath it. The five researched businesses are chosen purely on merit and can never buy their way in or move up. So you get the best of both: a clearly-marked sponsor, and an honest, independent shortlist underneath it.
